Dear donors and well-wishers,
Happy New Year! I hope that you are doing well. Thank you for everything you have done to help us work towards our goal of empowering women in the rural communities of Uganda. It is with great joy and gratitude that I write to you to share more about Margaret & Emma’s efforts over the past year.
· We rented a new office space and set up a skills training center in Kabale, Uganda.
· During the second phase of the COVID-19 lockdown, we were able to give food relief relief to the People with Disabilities group, as well as the elderly and single mothers in several of our groups.
· We gave potato seed to the single mothers in two of our groups during the planting season. Their harvest was rich and they were able to feed their children for some time.
· We registered new community women groups comprised of widows, single mothers and the elderly who are currently under orientation and training.
· We trained various groups in baking skills where the women learned how to make chapattis, samosas, and tea bites. We hope that once they have learned more, they will be able to run their own small businesses, or find work at local bakeries.
· We registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee with Uganda Registration Services Bureau. This is the first step towards registering with the National NGO (Non-Government Organization) Bureau. Once registered as an NGO, we will be able to apply for national and international grants, and will be able to work in all districts of Uganda.
We are exceedingly humbled by your generosity. Without you, none of our work would be possible. We pray that the good Lord blesses you abundantly!
Wishing you a blessed 2022!
Sincerely,
Natukunda Fortunate
