The last few months, a group of 13 women have been training in baking skills at our training center in Kabale, Uganda. These women are a part of group with disabilities who often find it difficult to find work. By training them in baking, we hope they will be able to sell their baked goods on a regular basis. We have the setup to run a bakery full time from our training center. We are currently working out some scheduling and management issues before we will open the bakery daily. This will offer our trainees the chance for full time employment in order to fully utilize their new skills.
From our Director, Fortunate:
"Only the dead don’t dream! This is an amazing reality that I have grown to see at Margaret & Emma Organization. We concluded training our first set of students in the baking class over the past quarter. These are women the majority of whom are disabled from the People with Disabilities Group in the Kikungri. Having not gone to school throughout their entire lives, these women were given a chance to dream again and their dream was brought to reality.
We trained twelve women and one man in baking skills over the past three months in making bread, buns, half cakes, samosa, tea bites, chapattis, Swiss rolls and a variety of other products. After gaining these skills, they now have a chance to compete in the business world and be able to earn a living. Thanks to Margaret & Emma Organization for changing these lives for the better!
We plan on holding a graduation ceremony for them and award them with a certificate of completion in baking skills after which we shall give them the startup capital to start their journey in the world of baking. We continue to solicit for your support in making this dream come true.
We are very grateful towards our donors and well-wishers for always supporting the women throughout their various projects. May God richly bless you! We look forward to training more women groups in baking skills. Together we can achieve more!"
